OUTPHIT

On 25 August, outPHit’s Austrian partners Neue Heimat Tirol and the University of Innsbruck carried out an excursion to Germany to see first-hand examples of prefabricated building elements. The outPHit team aims to use the potential of prefabricated solutions for building renovation – from individual components to complete façade elements – in their own case studies.

The example of a multi-storey residential building of the Adorf/ Vogtl. housing association showed participants how air ducting can be carried out in the insulation of the façade on the prefabricated window pre-wall assembly with integrated supply air diffusers. The group was also able to examine the partially completed heat pump system in the basement and in front of the building.

In the factory of Gumpp & Maier, participants were able to follow the production of timber building elements step by step and get answers to their questions on airtightness, connection details and thermal bridges as well as project management. The company’s portfolio includes a a school in Augsburg renovated completely with an ecological insulation system made of prefabricated timber frame elements, the so-called TES-EnergyFacade.

This experience and information accumulated through this excursion will support the outPHit team in further planning decisions and the implementation of project case studies throughout Europe over the next two years.
